Boating & Marinas
Surrounded by Lakes Superior and Huron, two of the mightiest freshwater lakes in the world, Algoma Country is home to world-class boating. And there are many smaller inland lakes laced with rivers. Lake Huron alone has more than 30,000 islands. Lake Superior has secluded coves, bays and inlets along its rugged coastline. Both lakes are punctuated by sand beaches and washed by crystal clear waters flowing from the Canadian Shield. Communities along the North Channel of Lake Huron offer sheltered docking facilities. Although facilities are spread a bit further apart along the shores of Lake Superior, there is a network of marinas from Sault Ste. Marie to Thunder Bay. Hundreds of coves and bays along the Lake Superior shoreline to drop anchor.
