A Small Town With Big Dreams

Thessalon invites you to come and #DiscoverThessalon. A small town with a great sense of community, beautiful beaches, small-town shops and outdoor adventures all year. Located off Trans-Canada Highway 17, only 80 km east of Sault Ste. Marie. The scenic Thessalon River runs through town, leading to its mouth on Lake Huron. Paddle, kayak, or fish your way under the iconic Thessalon Red Bridge built in the 1880s.

The Thessalon Coastal Trail provides pristine, hidden views of Lake Huron, accessible trail systems and lookouts, rugged routes for seasoned hikers, and a great experience for birders. Cyclers can visit us by following the Trans-Canada Trail and Great Lakes Waterfront Trail system to see what we have in store.

In winter, enjoy snowshoeing and cross-country skiing at the Stewart Highlands Trails. Or embrace the snow with curling, playing hockey, ice skating, ice fishing or snowmobiling.

The town operates a full-service marina, campground, fitness centre and arena, sandy beaches and pickleball courts. Thessalon encourages its residents, visitors and tourists to shop, eat and love local.
