The Friendliest Town in the North

Welcome to our Hometown! Chapleau is a thriving historic community founded in 1901. Nestled in the heart of the great outdoors, Chapleau is easily accessible by road (Hwy 129 or 101) and by rail (VIA Rail network).

From solid ground to water, there’s everything you could desire to get active in a multitude of ways in our vast northern landscape. Join us at our waterfront park, which includes a splash pad, playground, Pavilion, picnic area, beach and public boat launch! Enjoy the breathtaking view of the Kebsquasheshing River along the boardwalk and relax in the beauty.

Numerous camps, lodges, and campgrounds offer accommodations throughout the area. Our district contains four provincial parks with camping facilities. The area’s three fly-in services are ready for take-off if you are seeking a remote vacation. If you prefer to rest and relax in town, our motels or bed & breakfasts will cater to you.

Go for a walk or hike in any season, take to the lakes or rivers to canoe, kayak, fish, or swim. Visitors enjoy added adventure through camping and ATVing. If winter’s your season, we’ve got you covered with snowshoing, ice fishing and snowmobiling. Incredible sunsets, views of the Milky Way and the Northern Lights make Cahpleau a special location for photographers and stargazers.
