This is the perfect place for snowshoeing because of opportunities to explore this vast wilderness. The region has many well-marked, groomed trail systems in communities where you’ll trek past frozen waterfalls, walk through stands of old-growth forests, and have incredible views from atop scenic lookouts. Explore unmapped rock faces glazed in thick ice and watch for winter wildlife among the peaceful surroundings. Algoma is the place for a real snowshoe adventure.
These trail systems generally offer warm-up shacks. Some outfitters have equipment rentals. Or, you can take to the winter backcountry and trek where no one else has trekked before. This is a favourite winter activity for those staying at a winter cottage resort.
