Founded in 1846 as Canada’s first copper mine, our scenic town is rich in history. Tour the Simpson Mine Shaft and explore more than 7,000 artifacts in the museum. The Bruce Mines area is known for its rich farmland where sandhill cranes are often seen in the fields. Hardwood forests are breathtaking in their fall colours. The landscape is dotted with freshwater lakes and rivers, making it a summer paradise for boaters and anglers. Snowmobile trails snake through the area connecting you to trails all over Ontario. All-season trails provide recreational opportunities such as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and walking. The town hosts various activities throughout the year including the annual Canada Day Parade, the Fall Fair and the Cruisin’ Car Show.
